Sculpture (Alexi) rough-out. Once a pose is decided upon, the rough-out begins- start slim and allow the clay to dry out a bit - it will create a stronger base to work with.

The moment you think of something, a thought manages to give you an idea, and there it is, that is your perspective on what your art will become.
Great detail will go into making this piece of art. You'll become engrossed for a while, and it becomes a part of you.
Creativity begins the process. Creativity guides you through the process. As the artist creates, the question of how becomes apparent.
You are the creator, and decide what style you'll want to use, the overall size, and the proportions.
If you're working with life-models as I do, the most important thing is getting the pose right, and of course - if the model is comfortable with the pose - it will be a more natural piece.
Guidelines for Beginners:
- The larger the sculpture, the better to learn detail
- The smaller the sculpture, the easier it is to fire.
- Clay comes in all variations of consistency - fine clay promotes detailed sculpture.
- Working with others is best - all kinds of tips and techniques will be available to you.
Being a great artist is a gift - this gift comes from within ourselves... once you realize it, share it!
